Biuro Projektów Lewicki Łatak

Studio founded in 1995 by Kazimierz Łatak (born 1962) and Piotr Lewicki (born 1966) in Kraków, Poland, is the winner of numerous awards and distinctions, including the winner of Kraków competitions for the redevelopment of the Ghetto Heroes Square, for the design of the Cracovia Centennial Hall and Sports Centre for the Disabled, the Kazimierz-Ludwinów pedestrian and bicycle footbridge, and the Museum of Architecture and Design in the building of the former Cracovia hotel. The architects are the authors of many acclaimed projects, including the Corte Verona multi-family apartment complex in Wrocław, the Flyspot Wind Tunnels in Mory near Warsaw and in Katowice, the remodelling of the Princes Czartoryski Museum in Kraków.

They are recipients of the most prominent architectural awards in Poland, including the Annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2018, three times the SARP Award of the Year (2019, 2020, 2022), and the most important one – the Association of Polish Architects (SARP) Honorary Award in 2018. They were also distinguished with the International Union of Architects’ (UIA) the Vassilis Sgoutas Prize for Implemented Architecture Serving the Impoverished 2021 (Rio de Janeiro, 2021) and the Jože Plečnik Award for Lifetime Achievement (Prague, 2022), and their projects have been nominated several times for the EU Award – Mies van der Rohe Award.

The Cracovia Centennial Hall and Sports Centre for the Disabled in Kraków was the recipient of the SARP Grand Prix Award of the Year 2019, the Grand Prix of the “Polityka” Architectural Award for 2018, a distinction of the International Paralympic Committee in Cologne and many others. The apartment complex Corte Verona in Wrocław has won, among others, the Grand Prix title in the Beautiful Wrocław competition (2011), while the reconstruction of the Ghetto Heroes Square in Kraków received the European Prize for Urban Public Space in Barcelona (2006) and the Gold Award in the Urban Quality Award 2011 competition organised by Eurohypo AG (Frankfurt am Main).

Both designers worked at the Faculty of Architecture of the Kraków University of Technology in the years 1992-1999, and in the years 2003-2009 they ran a studio at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University. Since 2021 they have been holding the title of Ambassadors of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology.

Piotr Lewicki and Kazimierz Łatak have been working together continuously since 1988.
